TOP TEN posts for for our year!
January 24, 2011
Posted by on Well, we have ended our first year of the No Apologizing Blog. When we first started this blog we weren’t sure what was going to happen, thanks for coming out to view some of our top posts. That being said here is the TOP TEN for the No Apologizing Blog:
Mother’s day is a notoriously hard to preach on… I get both the blessing and the challenge of preaching today. As I tried to decide what to speak about I got more and more nervous… You have to decide whether to preach to moms or to children… Then there’s the complications:
- Not everyone is a Mom, who wants to be
- Not everyone has/had a great relationship with their mom.
- Not every mom and child can be together on this day
What can I say? I, like many of you (at least according to the polls) do not like the fact that our government now controls most of the auto industry, health care, and student loans. As I sat and watched (with disgust) as the house passed a bill that will effectively socialize health care, I wondered, what recourse we as Christians have against such a governmental move. My question is, can Christians rebel against the government without sinning?
For years and years skeptics have desperately attempted to disprove the Bible. Their attempts, however, have been just that: desperate… And when a person gets desperate they start throwing out a bunch of garbage hoping that something will stick… Some examples of what they claim: The New Testament was written hundreds of years after the death of Jesus based on corrupted oral traditions and not by any eyewitnesses of the crucifixion/resurrection, there are Discrepancies in the text…from one book to another… On and on they go, but they are far from the truth. They have so many outlandish claims against the Word of God there is no way anyone could cover them all in just one blog… so we won’t even attempt… However, from time to time we will try to give a high level response to some of the more common “claims” against the Bible.
The title may look a little familiar to you. This is the response that Winston gave to Ray after the Demon spirit in Ghostbusters fried them. This is relevant to today in that many word of faith preachers say that we are “little gods”. Some of the more well known preachers associated with this doctrine are Joyce Meyers, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, Creflo Dollar, and Bill Winston.
Have you ever heard that it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission? That may be true in some circumstances, but that doesn’t mean that asking for forgiveness is an easy thing to do. It can be very hard to apologize sometimes – especially when you don’t think you’re the one who’s most in the wrong!
Webster’s Dictionary defines laminin as “a glycoprotein component of connective tissue basement membrane that promotes cell adhesion”. Basically, this is the protein that holds our cells together.
We know that a lot of folks are freaking out about what’s occurred… We get it… Things look, well, apocalyptic – not only with the birds and fish dying, but with the global economic meltdown, the pervasiveness of war and evil, famine and disease… There would be a ton to be worried about if there were not a wonderfully powerful God who passionately loves people and has a plan already set in motion to make everything right.
This was a three part series where KB and kcbob debated tongues in today’s world. Part 2 is the post that is officially number 3 on our top ten. Here are links to Part 1 and the Closing arguments. By the way…according to the votes…Kevin won the Debate.
Have you ever been in a conversation about the Bible and hear a believer say “Some of the things in the Bible are good moral stories”. How about a conversation with a non-believer that usually ends with “you believe that everything in the Bible is absolutely true?” I certainly have. What these people are usually implying is that some of the stories in the Bible are a little too fantastic to believe. Nine times out of ten they are usually referring to Jonah, Noah or maybe even creation.
AND THE NUMBER ONE POST OF THE YEAR IS…
So, if you haven’t seen the news…over the new years about 5,000 birds and 100,000 fish died in Arkansas. The birds appeared to have died from internal injuries from a blunt force trauma, and there is no news on the fish. The official explanation is that fireworks stunned the birds, and caused them to fall. The unofficial explanation can span any number of theories. Many are wondering if there are any biblical prophecies that would predict this. Some want to tie it into the end of the world. I however, think that is the wrong way to look at it.
