Christian Apologetic, and Social Commentary in a world gone mad
On Sunday I had the opportunity to preach in the senior pastor’s absence (to hear the sermon CLICK HERE). The topic God laid on my heart to speak on was His Word. I didn’t produce a manuscript of this sermon, and I’m going to mostly give you the basic bullet points with some explanatory material, but I encourage you to study this out for yourself and see what God reveals to you about the importance of His Word.
As Christians, we need to come to grips with the fact that the Word of God is Amazingly Wonderful and a Priceless Gift. It is worthy of our time, study, reverence and effort to defend it. Many people would like to dismiss the Bible as culturally irrelevant or antiquated… they’d like you to believe that there are errors or unresolvable difficulties or perceived contradictions. But our view of Scripture is a pretty good indication of our spiritual health… You see there are a few truths about God’s Word that we need to let sink in… Understanding and believing these truths is fairly essential to the Christian life.
You see, God’s word is SO wonderful it cannot be summed up by calling it just a good book nor can we describe it with just one analogy. In fact the Bible uses at least 14 different metaphors to describe Itself and each one of these tells us a little more about its benefits and uses in our lives. Let’s briefly look at each of these… As you do, ask God to open your heart and mind to just how awesome His Word is and to reveal to you how you might better let it revolutionize your life!
The Word of God is Like:
Psalm 119 is the central and longest chapter in the Bible… and it is appropriate that it is dedicated to God’s word… Perhaps this is a little symbolic of the fact that it should take a central role in our lives as well… Indeed, the Psalmist loved God’s Word so much that he took the painstaking effort to write a poem dedicated to God’s Word where he took all 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet and wrote eight line sections for each where each line started with that section’s letter… Okay, so, how do we know we really treasure God’s Word like the Psalmist did? By getting a tight 5-Finger grasp on it:
So, you don’t have a 5-finger grasp on God’s Word? Maybe you don’t desire and delight in it as much as you’d like… Well, Psalm 119 may be informative on this as well. See, this is amazing poem is not just a pneumonic device for learning stuff about God’s Word – it is a prayer for a deeper love and appreciation of Scripture, and it’s a prayer we could all stand to pray on a more regular basis.
Can you see the forest through the trees?
A group of guys were on a camping trip. They went hiking, and got lost. They were looking for a forest where they had camped. One of them turned to the group and said “Hey, can anyone see the forest?” One in the group replied “Well it would be a lot easier to see without all of the trees!”
This is a pretty common saying…can’t see the forest through the trees. The use of the phrase implies that someone is so caught up in the details, that they can’t see the big picture. This was the situation that Jesus found himself in, in Matthew 12:1-14.
The set up: Jesus and the apostles were walking through a grain field on the Sabbath. They were hungry, so they picked some grain and ate.
The problem: According to the 4th commandment, they were to remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. Because God made the world in 6 days, and rested on the 7th…we are supposed to as well.
The reaction: In their zeal to try and do what is right (keep the law), the Pharisees had built a practical buffer around the law were they placed rules around the law to attempt to prevent accidental violation of the law. They did this because they had learned the severe consequences of ignoring God’s laws (through the exile). They were irritated with Jesus for not keeping their stringent rules or the letter of the law.
The response: Jesus asks the Pharisees to see the forest through the trees – to see the big picture, or to observe the spirit (intent) of the law rather than the strict letter of the law.
Upon being questioned by the Pharisees Jesus drew a couple of comparisons to the Old Testament. He concluded his response with a quote of Hosea 6:6; “I desire mercy and not sacrifice”. Jesus had used this phrase before (Matthew 9:13). When Jesus summarized the law in Matthew 22:37-40 He basically told them “Love God and Love People” – in other words BE Loving… BE Merciful. The law was a set of guidelines to help people figure out how to be and act in loving and merciful ways. The Pharisees were totally missing that point. Jesus went on to illustrate this at the temple by healing a man with a withered hand. It wasn’t enough that Jesus healed the man on the Sabbath day (viewed as work by the Pharisees), but he also made a point to ask the man to extend his hand to be healed (this also could have been viewed as work). This time Jesus was painting a picture for them. He asked them which one of you would not go help your sheep if it fell into a pit? This was a practical illustration of giving mercy, and not sacrifice that they would put into effect because it would ultimately benefit them. Jesus exposed their heart attitude that they didn’t care so much about loving God and loving other People… they were just trying to stay out of “trouble” and look good.
The 4th commandment is really an interesting commandment because of what happens when you discuss it. You can be in a group talking about how we can honor this commandment and within 10 minutes you are so far into what is allowed that you forget that Christ wants us to be merciful rather than sacrificial… he wants us to see the forest… Now don’t get me wrong, it helps us to see the trees (look at the details) in most cases. But, it is when we are so focused on the trees, and we forget the big picture, that’s when problems begin to occur.
In our small group tonight it took 10 minutes before we were diving into the minutia of the 4th commandment and asking questions like, “are we enabling the breaking of the 4th commandment by going to the store and forcing people to work on Sunday?” After a few minutes of discussion we looked at Colossians 2:16-17, “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.” and moved on. But the questions still remain – God created a 7 day week for a reason (and studies have shown that people are most healthy productive when they take 1-2 days off each week). There’s so many things to consider surrounding the practical application and implications of a “Sabbath” day (like Hebrews 10:24-25, what day it should be and whether it is even applicable to the Church age or strictly an OT commandment specifically to Israel). While our group discussed this commandment for only an hour, the Israelites had discussed it for over 1000 years… You can imagine how far down the rabbit hole they had gone with the 4th commandment!! This is why Jesus’ words and actions were so upsetting to the religious establishment of the time!
As alluded to before, the problem with the Pharisees wasn’t that they were being “disobedient” to God… they had a Heart problem and jacked up motivations. Their stance can be summed up in one word: Legalism. None of us think we are susceptible to that, but we really are… AND , We have to avoid it AT ALL COSTS… because it leads us to being so consumed with the “law” that we forget the mercy and grace of God and how He desires us to be loving and merciful to the people around us. After all isn’t Loving God and Loving others the point?
I recently wrote a post about the so called “problem of evil” and how Christians should view it. Well, as a youth pastor I get to see this played out in varying degrees in my ministry. Sometimes people respond to challenges well, sometimes they don’t. Today, I thought I’d try to encourage you by telling you a quick story of a young man in my youth group who is handling some adversity remarkably well. Now, this adversity isn’t like facing cancer or the death of a loved one or anything like that, but it is still a big deal for him at this time in his life.
This student comes from a family of VERY talented wrestlers (one cousin was a 3 time state champ and another one was 4 time state champ… His daddy was also a great wrestler and is now one of the coaches in our area). So, safe to say, wrestling is in his blood… It’s been his long-time dream to be a 4 time state champ as well – a dream that not only seemed possible, but quite likely as at the beginning of the season the main newspaper in our state picked him as a favorite for his weight class… All that changed one tournament at the very beginning of the season when he was severely injured by an illegal move.
Of course, his parents sought out the best medical care they could find, but he kept getting mixed messages from the doctors – the reality was they couldn’t be sure how quick he could recover from the injury and as the season progressed it became more and more doubtful that he would be able to get in enough mat time to seriously challenge for state (if he got to wrestle this season at all).
Did God want him to suffer this injury? Was He using the evil of the blatantly illegal move and the injury that resulted to produce some greater good in this young man’s life? As we’ve seen from previous discussions, God does not cause evil in our lives to serve His purposes (God is Holy and thus wholly innocent of all evil)… However, He is also sovereign and thus any random and pointless evil/adversity that affects our lives is ultimately allowed by Him… James 1 and Romans 5 both tell us to rejoice or glory in suffering and trials – Why??? Because trials offer us an opportunity to “test our faith.” They reveal what we really believe about God and ourselves… There are 2 basic choices every time we face difficulties: Become Better OR Become Bitter.
We Become Better when we rely upon God to sustain and comfort us – He then can take the lemon-ness of the bad circumstances and help us turn it into something resembling lemonade (though the lemonade may still be fairly sour) – He does this by helping us grow in our perseverance (James 1), by giving us an opportunity to know and trust Him more and increase our Hope (Romans 5), and by opening the door to be a comfort and witness to those around us (2 Corinthians 1).
We Become Bitter when we allow ourselves to wallow in self-pity… when we let a natural sense of anger against the situation (and maybe even God) cause us to hold a grudge against Him… when we focus on the circumstance and/or its adverse affects and try to lay blame on everyone and everything else because of them.
Though there was much discouraging news and times of deep disappointment this freshman strove to keep pressing on and, even more so, to keep his mind focused on the right perspective: Through the encouragement of his mom, he kept asking, “What can I learn from all this? What do I NEED to learn?” He petitioned the elders of our church to pray over him (cf. James 5:13-16) – but not just for healing, but that he would maintain a righteous example for those around him – It was a very powerful time and no one left the room untouched by the Spirit of God.
Well, the healing didn’t come as quick as anyone would have hoped for… He still struggled through therapy and rehab and wasn’t released for even light work-outs until just a couple of weeks ago… Then, he was allowed to wrestle with the JV and took 2nd in his only JV tournament just last week – which is a major disappointment for someone who was previously picked to win state, especially since it was so close to the tournament he has to place in to qualify for state… Still, though, he has been relying upon God and striving to keep a positive outlook and a live as a solid example of faith.
Tomorrow this upstanding teenager is going to wrestle in regionals (the qualifying tournament for state) in his first varsity action since the injury… and He is going into it hoping to display aspects of Zechariah 4:6-7: To compete – Not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of the LORD Almighty… He will attempt to level a very large mountain for the Glory of God.
In my humble opinion it doesn’t matter if he loses every match tomorrow… This is because in light of how he continues to handle himself, he is already a champ in God’s eyes… and mine!
So for one of our classes Kevin and I are reading a book called “Legislating Morality”. This book takes a hard look at morality, relative morality, and an absolute moral law given by God. In this book I stumbled across a few quotes that I thought were interesting. The part of the book where these quotes are found focus on the “deity of evolution.” The overarching point is that evolutionists are atheists by nature, thus making evolution and atheism a belief system. Atheist’s strongly argue against this point, however a conclusion must be drawn as to the origin of the universe and man, and atheists (by definition) must accept evolution as the origin of both universe and man.
The Bible of Atheism?
To illustrate this point consider the words of Charles Hodge: “What is Darwinism? It is atheism. This does not mean as before said that Mr. Darwin himself and all who adopt his views are atheists; but it means that his theory is atheistic; that the exclusion of design from nature is…tantamount to atheism”. This is logical and well-reasoned. If you believe in evolution, you deny the creation. If you deny the creation, you deny God. You can deny the logic presented by Hodge, but you cannot deny the direct conclusions of the fathers of Darwinism. They conclude that evolution in and of itself is a deity.
Consider the words of Darwin himself who wrote: “I speak of Natural selection as an active power or deity; but who objects to an author speaking of the attraction of gravity as ruling the movements of the planets?… It is difficult to avoid personifying nature.”
Alfred Wallace stated that “Natural Selection is supreme”. He went on to say “There is a power not only adequate to direct and regulate all the forces at work in living organisms but also the more fundamental forces of the whole material universe”
Thomas Huxley (Darwin’s bulldog) stated: “I can see no reason for doubting that all are coordinate terms of nature’s great progression, from formless to formed, from the inorganic to the organic, from blind force to conscious intellect and will”.
What must be the logical conclusion of the above individuals? God is dead, or more accurately, He never existed. Intellectualism and natural process rule everything. In other words “science” and natural selection are the new deity, the new creator, the new god. According to the premier evolutionist (Darwin), evolution has replaced God.
With atheism and evolution bound to one another we can see that atheists do, in fact, have a god to worship – and worship it, the do. Because not only does it give their own creation narrative it ultimately defines moral values as well.
Consider the following:
Friedrich Nietzsche: “God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we, the murderers of all murderers, comfort ourselves?” He answered the question with the following “must not we ourselves become gods simply to seem worthy of it?”
With God (the moral law giver) dead, all absolute moral standards died with him.
Fyodor Dostoevsky stated the following: “If God does not exist, then everything is permitted”. This is quite true.
Consider the following statement: “If nature does not wish that weaker individuals should mate with the stronger, she wishes even less that a superior race should intermingle with an inferior one; because in such cases all her efforts, throughout hundreds of thousands of years, to establish an evolutionary higher stage of being may thus be rendered futile. But preservation goes hand in hand with the inexorable law that it is the strongest and the best who must triumph and that they have the right to endure. He who would live must fight. He who does not wish to fight in this world, where permanent struggle is the law of life, has not the right to exist”.
The above statement fits with the evolutionist ideology. Survival of the fittest, strongest will survive. The author of this text was Adolf Hitler. The Evolutionist/atheistic ideology was the foundation for the genocide of 12 million people. People who were “weak” and needed to be weeded out. With god dead anything is permitable, including genocide. In fact, one could convincingly argue that the theory of evolution is a foundational cause for most all racism today, but that will have to wait for another post.
Atheism is its own religion. Think about it. It has its own story of creation of the universe, and its own set of moral values because of this belief of creation. Are these not characteristics of a religion? These principles are religious in nature. The Bible defines creation, and comes with a set of moral values. In this sense Atheism, is just another religion.

So, if you haven’t seen the news…over the new years about 5,000 birds and 100,000 fish died in Arkansas. The birds appeared to have died from internal injuries from a blunt force trauma, and there is no news on the fish. The official explanation is that fireworks stunned the birds, and caused them to fall. The unofficial explanation can span any number of theories. Many are wondering if there are any biblical prophecies that would predict this. Some want to tie it into the end of the world. I however, think that is the wrong way to look at it.
*UPDATE** Here is a map of the mass animal death’s. There are now reports of hundreds of birds dead in Texas, thousands of fish dead in Florida, and 40,000 dead crabs in England.
Sure it is a little creepy that 5,000 birds fell from the sky. I was telling my aunt last night to imagine the shock of driving while that happened. I thought about what my reaction would be. I would probably just put the car into park, put the seat back and think….this is really happening. That being said, I don’t believe that this has anything to do with the end of the world. I could be wrong, because nobody knows, but there’s no biblical prophecy about it… I can tell you though that there is a lesson to be learned.
Probably what is the most shocking of this story is the suddenness that all of this has happened. Thousands of birds dead for no apparent reason… Hundreds of thousands of fish dead… How many times have we thought about something like this? One moment these birds are roosting…the next dead. One minute these fish are swimming, the next dead.
All life operates in this manner… including yours.
Take Luke 12:19-21. In this passage Christ is teaching on the parable of the Rich Fool. Here a Rich man had acquired all kinds of wealth. So much that he ran out of room to store it. He finally came to the conclusion that he needed to tear down a couple of buildings and build bigger ones where he could store more wealth. Look at God’s response “‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ (Luke 12:20).
Also look at James 4:13-15: Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
So what does all of this mean? You have no idea what will happen tomorrow. One moment you could be driving to work, the next dead. Nothing brings God’s Word close to home better than reality.
The point of Luke 12 and James 4 is not to say “live for today” or “Just Do It”. To the contrary, Luke 12:20-21 provides you the key to all of this: “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ 21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”
Get rich with God today…. Not with just your money, but with you whole life. Commit your life to Christ – Live for Him. It is the only way that you can be rich with God. Tomorrow may never come.

Another new year is here. And like every New Year I began thinking about goals for the upcoming year. Most call this New Year’s resolutions. Some would balk at the idea of using that phrase because of the lackadaisical approach that it might apply. I however look at it as simply goals for next year. 2010 will be the year of incredible spiritual growth for me. I want this process to continue. This challenge will be a stretch for Christian’s of all ages and growth levels. Without furtherer due…
1. Read a non-fiction Christian book(s)
It can only help to get another view. When I read books like this, I immediately think of the movie Dead Poet’s Society – Specifically the scene where Robin Williams tells his students to stand on their desks to get a different perspective on things. The room just looks different when you see it from a different angle. Another person’s perspective may help change yours. A quick word of caution, be careful of the book you choose. For obvious reasons, we would not recommend books written by certain pastors that may have been mentioned previously in the “Are you a God” series. We would, however, recommend any of the following books:

2. Deeply study three books of the Bible.
Have you ever read something in the Bible, looked over at someone and said…”HAVE YOU READ THIS! IT IS INCREADIBLE!”, only to have them say “I have read the whole Bible”. There is a huge difference between reading, and digesting the Word of God. I would suggest that of the group of people that have read the Bible, that probably only 25% – 50% of the Bible was actually digested. By digested I mean, knowing the context of the books, why they were written, historicity behind them, spiritual impact of certain passages, etc… The point here is to understand and internalize these books.
3. Have a 90% attendance rate at church.
This should be probably number 1. If you are of the thought that you can have an effective relationship with God without attending a church you are wrong. The truth of the matter is that the church is critical for your personal development. Imagine learning how to become a computer programmer without going to school or doing programming work. The exact same thing applies here. You limit your growth potential in the body of Christ, by not attending church.
4. Volunteer for an event/function/job at church.
Now that you are attending church on a regular basis, it is time to volunteer. Serving is critical to our spiritual growth as well. Remember James 2:14-26. Faith without works is dead. This is the works part of the challenge.
5. Invite at least 12 people to your church.
Inviting people to church can open the door to being able to share your testimony. Your invite can include other functions such as church picnic’s, or small group. See number 3.
6. Have spiritual conversations that lead to you sharing your testimony and/or the Gospel with at least 6 people
Evangelism is a central part to being a Christian. There are a number of biblical passages that demonstrate that evangelism is asked but is required of all Christians…REQUIRED. That doesn’t mean maybe, or I’ll get to it later or it’s not my temperament. REQUIRED.
7. Sacrificially give to your local church.
We know that the economy is tough – it has been for your church too! Needless to say there is a biblical foundation for tithing (giving at least 10% of your gross income). God’s got a plan for your church that takes money to implement, and you should be a part of it. If you’ve never tithed before start small and grow throughout the year – Dave Ramsey calls it a giving snowball.
8. Pray for at least 2 minutes a day.
What do you do when you have problems? Pray. Anxiety? Pray. Need Help? Pray. Need guidance, wisdom, truth, or WHATEVER? PRAY! 2 minutes a day seems small in the amount of time you should devote to speaking with the Lord. I make it a point to talk to him as I would my father or wife. While he is God, he is still my Father. If you think that you shouldn’t talk to him in a normal way…read Psalms. That was the point of that book.
This is a yearlong challenge. And it should be just that…a challenge. No Apologizing will have your back though with posts about various biblical books, commentary on the books we have read, commentary on the spiritual conversations we’ve had, etc. If you have feedback that you want to share regarding the challenge you will be able to. A new page will be created on the blog specifically for this challenge. In the mean time, get those books ready. Have a great year. Be focused. Make no excuses! Remember only one person is in charge of their relationship with God…YOU! No one else can do it for you.
Everyone is amazed when someone is able to predict something and it actually comes true. The general feeling is one of awe, one of amazement. I mean….predicting the future must be incredible, then it coming true is all the more amazing. What if I were to tell you that I have read multiple predictions, and those predictions came true some 700 years after it was written. What would you say to that? Forget 10 years, where one could easily trend a prediction and get it right. We are not talking about the prediction that Mizzou would have beaten Oklahoma this year in football. We are talking the equivalent of King Edward the II making a prediction that Obama would become president in 2008. We are talking about pin point accuracy. Nothing like the two SS of Nostradamus’s famous Hitler prediction. Pin point accuracy about where Obama was born. The predictions would have been written about 1310 or so, and would have been 100% accurate. Can you imagine that? America had not even been discovered. The renaissance had not begun. Flying was for the birds. The sun revolved around the earth. Newton had not yet described universal gravitation, or the three laws of motion! Can you imagine this for one second?
I have read such a document, and you can too. These predictions or prophecies can be found generally in 7 books in the Bible. These are the key messianic prophesies in the Old Testament. These are the Bible verses that foretold the coming of Christ:
Genesis
3:15 Messiah to reconcile men to God; fully human, born of woman, he will utterly defeat Satan.
22:18 He will be of the family of Abraham
49:10 He will be of the Kingly tribe of Judah
Deuteronomy
18:15 He will be a prophet who, like Moses, revealed the Word of God.
Psalms
2:1-2 he will be tried by gentile rulers and condemned by his on people
16:10 Through resurrection, by the Father, Jesus’ body will not see corruption
22:1 He will experience the rejection of the Father at his death
22:6 – 7 He will be mocked at his crucifixion
22:22 Christ will glorify God in his church after His resurrection
40:6-8 Christ delighted in all the Fathers will
69:7-12 Christ would be rejected by men
89:4 Christ will be of the eternal seed of David
89:26-28 Christ will be God’s eternal son, his unique first born
110:1 He will ascend to the right hand of the Father and be coronated
110:4 His priesthood will be eternal, after the manner of Melchizedek
132:11 He will be of the lineage of David.
Isaiah
7:14 Christ will have a virgin birth, he will be called Immanuel
7:15-16 He will grow up in a land dominated by a foreign power
9:1-2 He will minister in Galilee
9:7 He will be of the line of David, but his kingship will be eternal and he will be the Son of God.
11:2 He will be anointed with The Holy Spirit
11:4 He will minister perfect justice regarding the poor and the meek.
24:16 Christ will offer salvation to the entire world
40:3 He will have a forerunner
42:1 Christ will be the great anointed Servant of Yahweh
42:2 His ministry will be gentle
42:6 Christ will be the fulfillment of God’s covenant
49:6 Christ will be a light to the Gentiles
52:14 He would be disfigured by the abuses he suffered prior to crucifixion
53:4 Christ will bear all our diseases
53:5 He will provide atonement for sin
53:9 He will be buried in a rich man’s tomb
53:10 The Father will prolong Christ’s days by resurrecting him from the dead.
Daniel
9:24 His public ministry to being in AD 26. He would be crucified 3 ½ years later.
Micah
5:2 Jesus would be born in Bethlehem
Zechariah
9:9 He would enter Jerusalem on a donkey’s colt
11:12 Christ would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver
12:10 He would be pierced for our transgressions.
Is this pretty amazing or what? Try to go through that list and find one criteria that Christ did not fulfill.
Remember these words were written anywhere from 2000 years to 500 years before Christ was born.
There is only one explanation for this, God. Divine revelation to these prophets. Incredible.
I have found the missing link. In a recent archeological expedition in my own back yard I discovered a tooth. From this tooth I was able to recreate the missing link based on keen scientific evidence. I have an artist’s rendering of what this missing link looks like based on the tooth. I will be sure to post that once it has been completed.
If I had a dollar for every time a “scientist” had discovered the nail in the coffin of Christianity I would be a rich man by now. Scientists are always claiming to have found evidence that disproves Christianity or something in the Bible. Take evolution for example. There are a number of instances where “scientists” have discovered the final piece of evidence to prove evolution.
Ever since Darwin published his evolution model scientists have been looking for the “missing link” that would bury the idea that God created man. What do I mean? Since 1891 scientists have discovered the missing link. Java man was claimed to be the originator of humans. [1] All that was found? A skullcap (from a gibbon), three teeth and a femur. To add to that, the femur was found a year after the skullcap was found.
Neanderthal man, discovered in 1908, is probably one of the more popular discoveries. The common image of Neanderthal man is that of a knuckle dragging half man, ape being. [2] The truth, Neanderthal Man is a normal human being. He just suffered from rickets, and arthritis.
[3] Piltdown man was found in 1912. Like Java man, Piltdown man was the discovery that would disprove the Bible. 41 years later it was proven to be a forgery. The skull was found to be a modern skull (circa 1912), the bone fragments were chemically stained, and the teeth had been filed down.
Nebraska Man, discovered in 1922, was created from a single tooth found in Nebraska. That’s right, one tooth. This tooth provided for an entire evolution model and picture. [4] The only problem was that the tooth that was discovered was from that of a pig.
One of the more recent missing link found was in 1999. This missing link was discovered in China, and was hailed as being the missing link between reptile and bird. Once again this discovery was proven to be a complete forgery. [5] This finding combined the head and body of a primitive bird and the tail and hind limb of a dinosaur…all glued together by a Chinese farmer.
I can understand how something like this may have you questioning your faith. But remember, in over 150 years they have not been able to discover any evidence of the missing link. This is but a sampling of the biggest “discoveries” of those who reject God. If it were me responding to this…I would lean on the most historically proven document known to man kind. The only document in the history of the world, to be 100% correct. A document that has upheld to centuries of scrutiny. The document that holds the holy word of God. I will stand by the Bible everyday of the week, and twice on Sunday.

No Apologizing 
Missionaries Murdered…
Word comes this morning that all four Americans have been killed, and the Somali Pirates have either been captured or killed.
While it is not clear that the murder of these missionaries rises to martyrdom, it is clear that they were murdered while fulfilling the great commission. It appears that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time when the yacht was overrun by pirates.
We should pray for the family members to be able to find solace with our Lord. We should rejoice for our brothers and sisters for finding peace with our Lord. And, we should pray that we should be so bold as to try to fulfill the great commission as our fallen brothers and sisters were.
This should serve as a reminder that we need to be praying for our missionaries that place themselves in harm’s way . We should also be praying for the pirates, and that they can be reached by the saving grace of our Lord.
