Tuscaloosa, Alabama

I have seen a number of bad storms.  Been a part of a couple of tornado touchdown’s, and even a major microburst…but this is incredible.  In the movie Twister one of the storm chasers are asked what an F5 tornado is like.  The answer…The finger of God.  When you look at the destructive power of the F4 tornado that touch downed in Tuscaloosa, AL you can understand why the comparison is made.   I am sure that many will look at this recent outbreak of tornado’s, earthquakes, war’s and famine as the “birth pains” described by Jesus in Matthew 24:8.  When you watch some of the video from these tornado’s it is hard not to think that.  The destruction and power is incredible.  Much like the tsunami and earth quake we witnessed a few months ago.

Again, I urge you not to delay.  For the coming of the Lord is swift, and like a thief in the night.  Much like the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, we never know when a disaster will strike.  You cannot afford to wait.  If you are on the fence about commitment to Jesus, get off the fence.  He has offered you the gift of eternal life, all you need to do is reach out and grab it.  I don’t know if this is the end of the world described in Matthew 24…but I do know this, we will all die, and no one can predict when that will happen.  Please pray for those that are in the path of these storms that God will have an impact on their lives.  Please pray for those that have lost family members.

Update**

Here is a link to some of the photo’s coming out of Alabama and Mississippi.  Please continue to pray for these people.  They are going to need our prayer and our help.

UFO sighting over the Temple Mount?

Okay….so a recent video has shown up on YouTube showing what reports to be a UFO floating above the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.  This video has garnered a lot of attention over the last few days.  Here is the video:

Here is another video of the same event….but from a different angle:

This video is indeed impressive, and gave me the chills just watching it. However, There is something odd about this video….maybe it has to do with this still photo being the exact backdrop to the video?

Back drop to a hoax?

To be fair, there are three videos of this event (one of which we won’t link because of foul language – we strive to keep our blog G or PG), and probably about 4 or 5 different speculations about what is happening here.  The guesses range from a true (alien) UFO to demons or angels to finally… just a hoax.  Christian blogs and message boards are certainly a buzz with this.  I am not convinced that this is real.

So let’s take this a whole new direction…  What is the point of this video?  It would appear that there is some sort of religious significance with this…  But is there really?

Let’s pretend for a moment that this video is real…

What is the point?  What is the significance?  We know that God is in control…what does He gain with this?  The Bible allows us to draw a logical conclusion that aliens cannot exist.  Based on that conclusion, this would have to be an Angel descending from Heaven, sent directly by God and allowed by Him to make itself visable.  What do we get from that?  What does He get from that? In other words, what’s the benefit to God or humanity?

Given all this, then, let’s assume that the video is a hoax…

What is the point?  What is the significance?  What is gained from such a video?

See what I am getting at?

Now, we at No Apologizing would never presume to know the heart of God, or to understand the actions of God.  But it often doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand the motives of man.  These videos have exploded over the internet, and on the blogosphere.  Someone has gotten a lot of attention with this.

MANY are using this video for religious purposes….ALREADY.  “It was an Angel from God”,  “The Angel above the Mosque PROVES the Islam is the one true religion”.  Again weigh this video based on the motives of man vs. what we know about God…

There is significant evidence that this is a hoax…  This begs the question: Why are people so willing to believe something like this is real?  Is it because they are looking for something that is bigger than themselves?  Is it because they desire to see something incredible?  Be a part of or witness something that is historic?  That it is impossible to believe that God created this universe and/or there is no way that we are the only ones here?

Whatever it is… I am willing to bet that they believe videos like this because there is a hole that needs to be filled in their spirit.  Rather than filling it with God, they fill it with things like this…

Just a thought.

Meaning of the Dead Birds and Dead Fish… Upon Further Review

We know that a lot of folks are freaking out about what’s occurred… We get it… Things look, well, apocalyptic – not only with the birds and fish dying, but with the global economic meltdown, the pervasiveness of war and evil, famine and disease… There would be a ton to be worried about if there were not a wonderfully powerful God who passionately loves people and has a plan already set in motion to make everything right.

Yesterday we posted an article on the recent mass-death of birds and fish across the globe. In that article we stated plainly that there is no biblical prophecy about this phenomenon.  However, it got me thinking about some things Jesus said about birds and fish. God has some very strong messages in what Jesus said that He wants you to hear and apply to your life – They are found in Matthew 6:25-27 and Mark 1:17. Let’s take a look:

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” ~ Matthew 6:25-27, NIV

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” ~ Mark 1:17, NIV

So, what is God saying here? People are massively important to Him… You matter to Him so much that He has pursued a relationship with you! You matter so much to Him that He sent His Son to die in order to pay for all the wrong you have done or will ever do (John 3:16)! And then, He backed up His power and authority by rising from the dead!

The key is that you have to trust Him and what He has said!

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:4-7

Do you want certainty in these uncertain times? Trust in Jesus – accept what He did for you on the cross, then live for Him – If you do, you won’t ever regret it.

Dead Birds, Dead Fish…is there a meaning behind this?

So, if you haven’t seen the news…over the new years about 5,000 birds and 100,000 fish died in Arkansas.  The birds appeared to have died from internal injuries from a blunt force trauma, and there is no news on the fish.  The official explanation is that fireworks stunned the birds, and caused them to fall.  The unofficial explanation can span any number of theories.  Many are wondering if there are any biblical prophecies that would predict this.  Some want to tie it into the end of the world.  I however, think that is the wrong way to look at it.

*UPDATE**  Here is a map of the mass animal death’s. There are now reports of hundreds of birds dead in Texas, thousands of fish dead in Florida, and 40,000 dead crabs in England.

Sure it is a little creepy that 5,000 birds fell from the sky.  I was telling my aunt last night to imagine the shock of driving while that happened.  I thought about what my reaction would be.  I would probably just put the car into park, put the seat back and think….this is really happening.  That being said, I don’t believe that this has anything to do with the end of the world.  I could be wrong, because nobody knows, but there’s no biblical prophecy about it…  I can tell you though that there is a lesson to be learned.

Probably what is the most shocking of this story is the suddenness that all of this has happened.  Thousands of birds dead for no apparent reason…  Hundreds of thousands of fish dead…  How many times have we thought about something like this?  One moment these birds are roosting…the next dead.  One minute these fish are swimming, the next dead.

All life operates in this manner… including yours.

Take Luke 12:19-21.  In this passage Christ is teaching on the parable of the Rich Fool.  Here a Rich man had acquired all kinds of wealth.  So much that he ran out of room to store it.  He finally came to the conclusion that he needed to tear down a couple of buildings and build bigger ones where he could store more wealth.  Look at God’s response “‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ (Luke 12:20).

Also look at James 4:13-15:  Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

So what does all of this mean?  You have no idea what will happen tomorrow.  One moment you could be driving to work, the next dead.  Nothing brings God’s Word close to home better than reality.

The point of Luke 12 and James 4 is not to say “live for today” or “Just Do It”.  To the contrary, Luke 12:20-21 provides you the key to all of this: “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’   21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

Get rich with God today…. Not with just your money, but with you whole life.  Commit your life to Christ – Live for Him. It is the only way that you can be rich with God.  Tomorrow may never come.
